ESPÓLIOS | 2017

1 – Forget me | 2015 

In a dossier found in the trash––about the lives of women attempting to quit lives of prostitution––, the small group photograph and the violently erased face of one of the women portrayed stood out. I cut up and enlarged the image of that face which (because it is unidentifiable) represents all the people that society proposes to keep invisible through its indifference and prejudice.

2 – Nothingness, no one, nothing at all | 2015

Hoping to preclude any possibility of classification, I cut hundreds of paper file folders to shreds; the files in question contained documents pertaining to the lives of women who hoped to abandon prostitution.

3 – Little by little, making itself, erasing itself and rewriting itself | 2015

Covered in handmade graphite, this notebook marks the beginning of an investigation into that material and a collection about prostitution. Its blank pages led me to seek other supports whose content would allow for an approach to the fragility of memory––as tension between remembrance and oblivion.
