LAYERS OF HISTORY | 2017 (IN PROGRESS)

Clay is one of the components responsible for the resistance of pencil leads. A pencil’s hardness is stipulated according to the proportions of clay and graphite therein. For this series of drawings, I worked envisioned the discovery of an archeological terrain: I used harder graphite for the deeper layers, a clearer line; softer graphite is used to sketch darker lines––the overall mixture produces the “layering” effect.
